The UAE’s flag features three horizontal stripes of green, white, and black, with a vertical red stripe on the hoist side. Each colour represents important values: green symbolizes hope and prosperity, white stands for peace, black represents strength, and red signifies courage.

United Arab Emirates Geography

United Arab Emirates is a Middle Eastern country located on the eastern side of the Arabian Peninsula. The country borders Saudi Arabia, Oman, the Persian Gulf, and the Gulf of Oman.

With an area of about 83,600 square kilometres, the United Arab Emirates is a collection of seven emirates, each ruled by an emir.

The United Arab Emirates is slightly smaller than Austria, yet has a population of 11 million — 2 million more than Austria.

Oil wealth has transformed its traditional agricultural, fishing, and pearl-trading economy into a global economic and tourism hub. Today it is the sixth richest country globally in GDP per capita at constant prices.

In 1820 seven emirates on the eastern coast of the Arabian peninsula joined together and signed a treaty with the United Kingdom. This area remained a British protectorate until 1971 when it gained independence as the United Arab Emirates.

Each member of the UAE retained its hereditary dynasty, which rules domestically as an absolute monarchy. The emir of Abu Dhabi is a President as part of the custom as Abu Dhabi is the largest and most populous emirate.

In the 1950s, Oil was discovered in UAE. Since then Oil and Gas are the main foundations of the UAE economy while tourism and transport also play crucial roles.
